"Staying connected" is a slogan the entire social media world has adopted and used to explain  phenomenas like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.  These days it seems like dating is more commonly done online, all bills and services can be paid and aquired online, all shopping and reserving can be done without ever seeing a person.  Instances like these lead me to believe that keeping us connected has actually split us apart.
To find out the real effects of connection I plan on using articles that describe communcation deficites as a direct result of the social media boom.  I also plan on using social media to ask other's their opinion about what they remember interacting with peers was like prior to social networking.  I've come across great articles like, "Social networking hurts the communication skills of college students", also good pro/con arguments on networking socially.
Problems I forsee being an issue with this topic are narrowing the question down to find a true "gap".  I think the overall topic is interesting, has two clear sides, and gives room for everyone to have an educated opinion, but still is too broad.  I'd like to stick with the three social media sites I mentioned before but am afraid that they have so much to offer in the way of this topic that I might find more success if I focus my attention on just one.
