Research Process

Through this assignment, finding resources has occurred in a variety of ways. Internet sources, such as websites, online articles, and journal entries are repeatedly viewed and evaluated to benefit the paper. The use of the Auraria library has also been beneficial as it provides the paper with book resources and journals of experts which are informative and provides experts opinions on the topic. Field research has been undertaken in the form of writing survey questions and visual sources have been viewed from websites such as: youtube.com. These sources vary in their individual difficulty to acquire. Internet websites and articles are the easiest to obtain as it is quick and convenient to find and the reliability and validity of the resource are easy to check. The hardest types of sources to gather are scholarly journals as there a few to be found in comparison and it is much harder to obtain.
The implementation of using a variety of resources has proven to be beneficial in opening a broad range of views into the topic. Through reading and viewing these resources I have gained a greater understanding of the truth behind the White Australia Policy and the reasons behind its employment. I have also learnt a great deal more than what I, as an Australia educated student growing up, learnt in the Australian educational curriculum.
Obstacles can play a massive role in the effectiveness of an essay presentation, whether affecting its content or the way the content is displayed. One obstacle I have encountered, has been finding credible experts on my topic. There is a great deal of statistics about Australian immigration and factual evidence but few people who discuss why and how this happened. Another obstacle I find hard to overcome is finding resources and knowing what I am going to say about them without writing the paper first and incorporating them first. This has been hard to do with the annotated bibliography and with using so many sources.
